When Danny's mother is suddenly taken ill, he is shipped off to spend the summer in Indonesia with his Chinese father, whom he barely knows. But his father keeps some bad company, and Danny soon finds himself unwillingly caught up in piracy and people-smuggling on a rusty old container ship. When he uncovers many Chinese people locked in the ship's hold, he too is held captive, by the people he thought were his friends. He has no idea who to trust. Will he even make it off the ship alive?
