Summary: This first book consists of two sections. Section A (12 units) introduces students to poetic forms such as shape poems, limericks, haiku and diamante poems. Not all poems included follow strict formal rules and indeed there is considerable room for free verse type experimentation. Section B (6 units) deals with poetic devices such as rhyme, metre, similes and metaphors. Teacher notes at the end of each section highlight teaching points in individual units. (From page 4)
