Summary: At sixteen the narrator, who is never named, follows her bright, fearless friend Clara into the 'labyrinth,' only to see her friend torn apart by monsters and now she, who has always lived in the shadows and avoided attention, must try to survive this living nightmare alone, knowing that nobody has ever returned from the labyrinth.
